President William Ruto is expected for a title deed distribution exercise as he winds up his eight-day tour of Kenya’s Coast region.

The ceremony, scheduled to take place at the Mama Ngina Drive Grounds, will see 4,360 residents in Mombasa County receive title deeds.

The exercise forms part of a wider government programme targeting land ownership challenges across the Coast. Nearly 200,000 title deeds are planned for distribution across the region’s six counties.

Ruto’s tour, which started on September 26, has taken him through Taita-Taveta, Kwale, Kilifi, Mombasa, Tana River and Lamu counties, where he has attended various development and investment-related events.

Land ownership has remained a significant issue in parts of the Coast, with the government seeking to address historical disputes and administrative challenges through the issuance of formal ownership documents.

The President’s visit follows a major investment event in Lamu, where he presided over the groundbreaking of the proposed KSh2 trillion Dangote East Africa Refinery on Wednesday.

The refinery is expected to process crude oil produced in Kenya and other countries in the region before supplying petroleum products to East African markets.

The project has also been projected to generate approximately 60,000 jobs, while creating opportunities for businesses and industries connected to petroleum processing.

Ruto’s Mombasa programme marks another major engagement during his Coast tour, which has focused on land ownership, investment and development projects across the region.
